A word I hate to use

How do we define "cool" in the twenty first century? Why do we allow movies, magazines, advertising agencies dictate to us what's supposed to be 'it'? Didn't we as a people defined it on our own before? Then why let some corporation tie strings on our arms and legs and dance us mindlessly to a spiteful marketer's delight? We're like rats in the Pied Piper of Hamlin for cripesakes.

Take my brother for example, after he sees a movie, television series or ad, reads a newspaper or magazine, without any self-judgment and restraint he deems it to be correct, authentic.. and "the right thing thing to do". No longer is he true to himself but a reflection of an abomination of neo-con'ism.

Capitalism is killing cool.
